Royal Stools

The Golden Stool is a sacred symbol of the Ashanti nation, it is believed to possess the soul of the Ashanti people. According to legend, the Golden Stool descended from heaven and landed in the lap of the first Ashanti king.

 

The king's priest proclaimed that from then on, the strength and unity of the Ashanti people depended upon the safety of the Golden Stool. The Royal Stool is a representation of the heart of the Ashanti people. It is believed that if the Stool were to be taken away, the heart of the Ashanti people would be taken in the same regard.

 

The wooden stools are spiritual as well as practical. They are carved from a single block of wood and is a symbol of strength, history and culture.
